Focus has to be one of the hardest skills to conquer. This is especially true when it comes to money. Many of us could not tell you how much money we make, how much money we spend, or how much money we have in savings. If we took one year to truly focus on our money we all could be in a better place financially.
Pick A Goal: Start by picking at least one money goal to accomplish for the year. I say one goal to start off with because so many people get overwhelmed in the beginning because they want to do everything all at the same time that they end up doing nothing. So choose one goal that you want to accomplish for the year and once that goal is up and running you can pick another goal if you like.
Be Consistent: Once you pick a goal you have to be consistent with it. So many of us when we start to focus on improving our finances will be really focused at the beginning and after the excitement of something new wears off the consistency wears off with it. Once you pick a money goal stick with it. For example if you want to save more money by next year put a number to it, let’s say $100 a month. Make sure each month you put $100 into your savings and in a year you will be $1200 richer than you were before!
Building A Habit: They say it takes 21 days for a habit to become a routine. Imagine doing something consistently for a year! Imagine you paying down one of your debts for an entire year. Imagine you saving for that dream vacation for an entire year. Imagine you investing in your 401K for an entire year. The habit of focusing on your money for a year will have you in an amazing place 365 days from now. Don’t wait another minute. Get started today!
